Sophia Balbas began her dance training at the age of 2 at Jensen’s Performing Arts in Milpitas, California. There she trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical and contemporary, hip hop, and acro. During her time at Jensens she competed nationally and performed at both Disneyland and Disneyworld, as well as in Hawaii, New York, and on Carnival Cruise Lines with her team.
In addition to her training at Jensens, Balbas also participated in marching band, color guard, varsity cheer and dance, and was captain for her high school’s competitive dance team.
After graduating from Christopher High, she moved to Arizona, where she has performed with, and choreographed for, Canyon Movement Company and trained in ballet with Cynthia Ahlers Dance in Flagstaff.
Sophia is now dancing and teaching at CaZo Dance Center and will be majoring in dance at Scottsdale Community College. Balbas has always had a love for dance and enjoys sharing this love through the unique movement and storytelling style that CaZo Dance Theater is known for.
