Kayla Reyes has never been one to sit still, jumping from different extracurriculars every year. After enrolling in her first class in 2013, Kayla fell in love with dance and hasn’t stopped since.
Kayla’s love for dance grew when she joined NuEvolution Dance Studio in 2015. She danced competitively, allowing her to train in a variety of styles and giving her experience on stage. In addition to being a competition team member, Kayla also worked as a teaching assistant. This gave her the opportunity to work with a diverse age group, ranging from toddlers to pre-teens.
Outside of the studio, Kayla was involved in Desert Ridge High School’s Dance Department. There, she took charge of classes and choreographed for her peers, including students with disabilities. In her senior year, Kayla received High Scoring Seal Artistic Merit for her piece “Haunted.” Kayla graduated high school in 2021 as a member of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts with an Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency.
After high school graduation, Kayla took a short break from dance to focus on her next journey: pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Minor in Family and Human Development at Arizona State University. During her break, Kayla began to miss dancing and searched for companies to join across the valley. With gratitude, she became a member of CaZo Dance Theatre in January 2023.
Kayla has enjoyed her experience with the company and looks forward to seeing how she’ll continue to grow as a dancer and person.
