About the Show
Have you ever felt alone in a crowd or wondered if anyone would miss you if you simply didn’t show up?
You’re not alone. Janie as known as the teacher’s pet because she’s kind to everyone and always tries to do the right thing. Her only true friends are openly gay Matt and daydreamer Walter, yet when she needs someone, no one is ever there for her. Rico and Lucy have the opposite problem; everyone knows everything about them, which makes them feel as if they have to live up to everyone’s high expectations.
Even though Janie, Walter, Lucy and Rico seem to have everything figured out, the endless stream of secret crushes, constant rumors and daily drama the jocks and Flygirls spread across social media, they still wonder what would happen if they died today… Would anyone care?
Little do they know, if they look around, they’d see that there are plenty of people willing to help them. Even though today may be hard, tomorrow can always be better.
Inspired by true events, You Are Not Alone was created from questionnaires Artistic Director Bridgette Borzillo and the dancers filled out about their personal high school experiences.
