About the Show
Asylum: Resurrection is the third act in CaZo Dance Company’s Asylum trilogy and continues its tradition of bringing famous cinematic characters together in a frightening, comedic and dramatic tale of love, jealousy, madness and delusion, all told through the power and movement of dance.
In 1966, Liza agreed to write a story on the all-female asylum. The story was never published, as Liza was thrust into the asylum at the behest of Dr. Newgate when it was deemed she was sick. After it’s discovered that Dr. Newgate was infatuated with Liza, and the conditions at the asylum turned deadly, Liza helped the patients rise up against the staff, and though she had a chance to escape, Liza remained inside to be close to her true love.
In 1967, Dr. Zillo opened a new male ward and made some poor hiring decisions. Nurse Ratched chose to flirt with the patients over doing her job, forgetting to order medicine and other items for the patients. When Carrie arrived, a love triangle between Boris, Dr. Zillo and Nurse Ratched came to a head. Nurse Ratched killed Dr. Zillo and took over the asylum with Boris and the male patients by her side. But when things turn deadly, Carrie and the patients rise up to get rid of Nurse Ratched and Boris for good.
It’s now 1968, and Carrie is in charge of the asylum. But it was deemed Chatty Cathy, who was such an integral part in helping Carrie re-establish control, was ready to be released, Carrie needed to turn for outside help to keep the patients from deteriorating. Enter Norma Bates with her son, Norman, who are ready to bring the CaZo Asylum back to its former glory.
